A neck lift may include one of three procedures, depending on the degree of sagging and heaviness of the neck.
- Liposuction: Removal/correction of fat which may be indicated in a patient with good skin elasticity but has fat needing to be corrected.
- Cervicoplasty: Tightening of excess skin which may be indicated in a patient with extremely loose skin and muscles, with poor skin elasticity.
- Platysmaplasty: Removal or alteration of neck muscles which may be indicated in a patient with loose neck muscles and unwanted band lines.
A neck lift may also be part of a combination treatment plan, in conjunction with a facelift or mid-facelift. Neck lifts are performed under general anesthesia which means you will be asleep and feel nothing during surgery. The surgery itself will take several hours. With neck lifts, expect an overnight stay.
