How to take pictures for your Virtual Consultation
Before your virtual consultation with Dr. Markarian, we ask that you send in some photos of the area you desire surgery on. This allows Dr. Markarian to assess your specific needs and be able to accurately recommend and inform you of the procedure. Preferably three new pictures should be taken from different angles that can be suitably assessed and properly show the area. In general, patients should:
- Ensure there is a suitable background that allows you to be seen properly. A plain-colored wall with no furniture or objects behind is often recommended.
- Take the photograph somewhere with good lighting so that you can be clearly seen. The photo should be taken in natural sunlight or using a camera flash and should not be blurry.
- Photos should be taken from around 5 feet away.
- Take photos from more than one angle – three photos should be taken including one from face on and one from either side profile.
- Do not add any filters or use any photos which have been edited.
- A camera from a phone, Ipad or digital camera will likely be suitable.
- Photos should be taken in portrait orientation so more of your figure or face can be seen.
Face
When taking photos of an area of the face for your virtual consultation we recommend:
- Take the photo from a distance so the whole face is included (a zoomed-in selfie or picture of just the specific facial feature will not allow for your facial proportions to be examined).
- Take a photo that is face on as well as of both sides of the face.
- Tie long hair back so the entire face is shown.
- Remove any prominent jewelry, accessories, or makeup.
Body
Photos of the body should be taken from far away so that a significant area of your figure can be seen. Additionally, patients should:
- Tie long hair back so areas of the body are not covered.
- A photo from each side should be taken as well as from face on.
- Keep your posture the same in all three photos- for example, keep your arms down by your sides to ensure you are not obstructing any area of the body.
Breasts
When taking photos for a breast surgery consultation patients should not cover their chest with clothing or underwear and it is important that patients include their neck to their abdomen so that their figure can be properly seen. Patients should aim to:
- Take a photo from each side as well as from face on.
- Keep your posture the same in all three photos- for example, keep your arms down by your sides to ensure you are not obstructing any area of the body.
- Remove any prominent jewelry or accessories.
