Botox
Dr. Markarian commonly performs Botox for Anti-Aging.
BOTOX® Cosmetic, and other forms of botulinum toxin (Dysport® and Xeomin®) relax facial muscles to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Common treatment areas are worry-lines (between the eyebrows), crow’s feet (lines around the eyes), horizontal lines across your forehead, as well as lines around your mouth and neck bands.
Dr. Markarian feels that the key with Botox lies in truly understanding the anatomy of the injected area, and more importantly the variability in the anatomy between patients — for brows, the forehead, and anywhere else you plan on receiving a Botox injection. This includes having a firm understanding of the origin, insertion, and action of each muscle that will be injected, the thickness of each muscle targeted, how deep beneath the skin the actual muscle resides, and the patient variability therein.
As an Aesthetic-trained Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Markarian operates in the face for Browlift and Facelift procedures, and has a unique perspective to the muscle anatomy as he commonly dissects under the skin, sees the actual muscles themselves, and has learned “first-hand” the incredible variability between patients — live, “on the OR table” — as opposed to via lectures or a cadaver dissection. Dr. Markarian believes this helps him guide where to inject and where not to.
Dr. Markarian enjoys performing Botox injections and is excited to offer this popular cosmetic procedure to help you reach your anti-aging goals for your face and neck.
Fillers
Filler injections or dermal fillers have revolutionized facial rejuvenation and enhancement.
Facial deflation (or volume loss) begins at about the age of 30 (or sooner) and can contribute to dark circles under the eyes, flattened cheeks, thinning of the temples, lines/shadows on the corners of the mouth (marionette lines), and lip thinning.
As an Aesthetic-trained Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Markarian has a unique perspective when it comes to injectable fillers. Not only has he undergone advanced training in performing various types of filler injections including Voluma®, Juvederm®, Restylane®, Perlane®, Belotero®, and Radiesse®, but also commonly operates in the face for brow lifts and facelifts. As such, Dr. Markarian has directly observed the areas under the skin to “fill”, and has learned “first-hand” the incredible variability between patients — live, “on the OR table” — as opposed to via lectures or a cadaver dissection. Dr. Markarian believes this helps him guide where to inject fillers and where not to. Dr. Markarian is also one of a handful of plastic surgeons in Massachusetts who took the Allergan Expert Hands-on training course specific for Voluma® injection and this is his most popular filler. Voluma® is a new filler manufactured by Allergan specifically for the cheek, and most injectors’ experiences are limited.
Dr. Markarian has taught other health care providers how to properly inject fillers at courses and conferences, and enjoys performing them in his practice. By utilizing the optimal type of filler in the correct location, Dr. Markarian will help you reach your anti-aging goals for your face
